It’s an interesting time to be alive and working from home, schooling from home, sitting at home, or binge-watching media from home. There’s so much going on and yet less going on than ever.
I’ve recently discovered Pluto.tv and the classic Doctor Who channel. I like to have it on in the background while I’m working, it’s like listening to the voice of an old friend.
We’ve been holding on in my house, doing what we can to keep busy and enjoying the yard when the weather permits. But it’s hard on the kids and the adults, and sometimes tempers flare or fray.
And you know what?
That’s completely normal. And necessary. Letting the kids and adults feel their feelings means nothing’s being bottled up and stuffed down inside. Feel scared? It’s ok. Feel lonely? It’s ok. Whatever feeling you have is ok. You have to choose a responsible and reasonable way to deal with it, but the feeling itself is never a problem.
Especially with the kids, it’s important to show them that feelings are real, and that the choice of reactions is paramount. So here’s to feeling your feelings and choosing a positive response, no matter what.
