Mom’s Packing List – Summer Trip

I feel that this is something many moms can relate to – it’s come up for clients of mine throughout the years. You’ve finally decided to take a summer trip. Who was it who said moms don’t take vacation, they only take trips? It makes sense it you’re like many moms upon whom devolves the tedious job of, as you say, everything.

But mostly it’s packing.

Many moms, in fairness, complain about having to be in charge of everyone’s packing lists, and yet also wouldn’t leave it to someone else to do. But the complaint is still valid – if you don’t remember to put it on the list and pack it in a suitcase, it doesn’t go on the trip.

So you are the one who makes sure contact lenses are packed, music for the journey is arranged, socks/underwear/swimsuits/towels get tucked into the suitcase before it closes. We see you, mama, and you’re doing good. Whether you want to or not, you’re in charge of things, and as long as you make the list in advance you shouldn’t find it horrific.

Take your time. Think through everything you’ll need, and everyone else will need. Consider googling packing lists if you’re not positive you’ve thought of everything. And give yourself some grace in case you miss something. A summer trip is supposed to be enjoyable. Yes, mama, even for you.
