Once you’ve decided what goals you want to pursue, then what? You decide how you’ll reach them.
Sometimes you have a big goal like writing a book, and you know it won’t be achieved in a weekend. Then you keep your book as your main goal, and put the pieces that will help you create your book into your task list. Researching, taking photographs, creating an outline, writing a first draft – you can branch these off of your main goal. And then you can create your to-do list, for example, you need a picture of a tree, you can take one or buy one.
The best way to make progress on your goals is to work on your tasks, and to make progress on your tasks you can knock things off your to do list. All it takes is choosing a main goal so you know where to start.
If journaling or mind mapping haven’t helped clarify your goals for you, consider setting up an exploratory call with a creativity or personal coach who can help you.
