If is seems like you have a lot more to do these days, you’re not alone. There’s the regular duties you have, plus whatever additional responsibilities you have for work, now that you’re doing it from home, plus there’s a really good chance you’re now in charge of the family’s home front. Work/life balance is likely nonexistent.
If you were a stay-at-home parent, you already had responsibilities for the home and family, but now the entire family is home with you, so you’re trying to accomplish things with more people in and around the house. When you’re a work-at-home parent, things are busy because you’re in a familiar environment doing things you weren’t.
Are you tired? Because I’m tired. And if you’re tired, only you can decide what would make you feel better, but I encourage you to do it. If it’s taking the car out for a spin while the spouse watches the kids, there’s nothing wrong with needing some time alone. If you’re fortunate enough to have some outdoor space, maybe you could sit in nature for a bit, to reconnect.
Coloring your own artwork, or writing some journal entries or story ideas, can help enliven your day and spark your creativity. Starting a garden is trendy and beneficial to you and your family. Consider speaking to a life coach to help fall back in love with life.
You’ve likely heard the saying, “you can’t pour from an empty cup,” and it’s true. Be good to yourself and others, and then be a little bit better to yourself. Work/life balance may not be a real thing – but self care is real, as is the ability to extend yourself some grace.
